This ball head is probably overkill for my needs, but I didn’t want to take any chances.
It’s been incredibly stable through a month of use so far. It’s nice to setup my 70-300 at 70, then zoom to 300 and not see any movement.
The pan is extremely smooth. I used it 2 nights ago almost non-stop with Milky Way panoramas.
I’m still trying to get used to the multiple knobs for the ball tension. So far that has not been as useful as I expected it would be. I’m sure it’s user error.
The only knock I could have is the weight, but what do you expect with a ball head this size?

The initial impression of this ball head is great. Overall feel is solid and well built. The knobs are big and sturdy. The panning is smooth. The quick release plate is large enough to slide in/out the L-bracket attached to the camera without too much fuzz.
